Varicose Veins

What are the main causes of varicose veins?

Varicose veins are usually caused by weak vein walls and valves. Inside your veins are tiny one-way valves that open to let the blood through, and then close to prevent it from flowing backward. Sometimes the walls of the veins become stretched and lose their elasticity, causing the valves to weaken.

Thrombosis

Thrombosis is a serious condition in which a clot forms in a blood vessel in the body or sometimes in the heart. This is dangerous because clots that form in the blood vessels can block blood flow. They can also break off and travel to other places in your body, and if a clot gets stuck in a critical place like your lungs or brain, it can lead to life-threatening emergencies.
